The Seto Inland Sea from the south of Naoshima, a curved bay and small islands under a clear sky

Chichu Art Museum adult timed entry

A reserved 15-minute entry slot to the Monet, Turrell and De Maria rooms, for visitors aged 16 and over.

The adult timed entry admits one visitor aged 16 or over to the Chichu Art Museum on one date, at one 15-minute entry time. It covers every room of the museum, the Chichu Café and the store inside, and it is booked on the museum's official system before we send your e-ticket by email.

What the ticket covers

Entry to Claude Monet's room of five late Water Lilies paintings, to James Turrell's Afrum, Pale Blue, Open Field and Open Sky, and to Walter De Maria's Time/Timeless/No Time, with its 2.2-metre sphere and 27 gilded forms.

Inside the museum you can also use the Chichu Café, which looks over the Inland Sea, and the Chichu Store. Both are open only to visitors with an entry ticket.

Your entry time

Entry runs in 15-minute slots, each with a fixed number of places, and your ticket is valid for the time you reserved. Choose a time that leaves room for the ferry and the island bus, and arrive at the Ticket Center a little before it.

The museum does not change the date or time of a reserved ticket. If the museum closes on your date, for example in a typhoon, you get your money back in full.

Children in your party

Children aged 15 and under enter free by day, but each needs a reservation in the same slot. Tell us their ages at checkout and we add them to your booking at no charge.

Up to eight people can share one entry time. For a party of nine or more we split you into groups of eight or fewer at nearby times.

Who this ticket is not for

If you want to sit beneath Open Sky as the sky darkens, choose the Night Program instead: it includes museum entry that day, so you do not need this ticket as well.

If you need to photograph what you see, know that photography stops at reception. The museum is made for looking, not recording, and many visitors find that is the point.

Frequently asked

How long should I allow?
Plan on at least an hour inside, more if you want the café. Add the time to reach the Ticket Center from the port by bus and shuttle.
Can I change my entry time?
No. The museum does not change reserved dates or times, so check your ferry and plans before you book.
Is the price the same at weekends?
Yes. The fare you see is the total you pay, in your own currency, whatever the day.
